I’m currently battling jet-lag and a slight reaction to my
latest Covid booster shot, plus of course an in-person reintroduction to the craziness
known as life these days in the US.Frankly, I don’t want to even listen to the news, let alone talk/write
about it. So, I’m taking the easy way out and posting a group of recent
political cartoons that I wish could make me laugh.But at least they won’t drag my spirits any further
down than they already are or drive me to reach for the bottled in bond sort.
Here's hoping at least one gives you a giggle… or at least a tee-hee-haw-haw.
It’s been a hellish start to the new (?) year
here in the US, with so much to confront, contemplate and overcome.At times you feel you’re alone in the battle.
But of course, you’re not. We’re all in this together. And what better way to
drive home that point than through a sampling of political cartoons appearing elsewhere
in the world that reveal our shared concerns and experiences.And yes, these cartoons originate in Greece—but
they’re in English.They appeared in
Ekathimerini, Greece’s daily newspaper of record, created by two gifted artists,
Ilias Makris (all cartoons in the body) and Dimitris Hantzopoulis (headline cartoon).
Oh yes, one bit of personal news to report.
Today, I finished the first draft of Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis #12.Now the serious work begins.
I refuse to write about anything political this week.
Why?
Because, like virtually everyone else on the planet, I’m
tired and drained from living in a zone where madness has taken root under cover
of more than sufficient bull shit to guaranty extreme growth for many seasons
to come.
And so, I’ve decided to opt for a collection of cartoons and links to video clips that draw on our current situation for inspiration. Although some are political, they’re not even
close to the many cartoons out there espousing strident tones from all fringes
of the political spectrum.Most come
from US News and World Report, others from I know not where.
