Samburu is Beautiful

 Annamaria on Monday

These are busy and wondrous days for me.  Here are some snaps of the gorgeousness of Samburu. More posts are coming up, but for now…

Above, the welcoming committee when we arrived at the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge within the confines of the Samburu National Reserve.  Here is a peek at what we saw on our first game drive:

A bad photo of a bustard, included to give me an excuse
to post this:

“The bustard’s an exquisite fowl

With minimal reason to growl.

He escapes what would be

Illegitimacy

By grace of a fortunate vowel.”

Stay tuned!

    1. I knew you would appreciate the whole thing, Michael. The scenery, the animals and birds, and of course the wit.

  2. The third photo from the end? I thought that was a short necked beastie with a long tail! And was confused.....

    2. Oh God, Caro! Only you could possibly perceive it that way. It’s insane. Now my brain keeps switching back and forth between the two interpretations in a pendulum frenzy.

  4. The animals take my breath away (although I, too, found the ostrich hard to make out at first!) I'm also a great fan of limericks, and I didn't know this one. Thanks!

    1. Oh, Kim, you will regret revealing your propensity for limericks, starting now. I give you my own “best” groaner:

Through the subway of Paris, his home,
      This elf forever will roam.
      So if you hear tick-tock,
      Don’t think it’s a clock.
      Undoubtedly, it’s Metro-gnome.

    3. So very glad you found your way back, Everett! It must have been complicated if it stymied the likes of you. Remind me never to get a new computer. I find even the everyday (literally) software updates tremendously daunting.

  6. The animals are lovely but I'm impressed by how Huge everything there looks!

    1. One does see vast vistas there, Ovidia. One of the great pleasures of this ordinarily city dweller.
