Here is what I can tell you today. I promise you will hear more about this trip than you likely care to, but take a look at these:
IN NAIROBI
A Visti to Karen Blixen's house
|
"...at the foot of the gong hills." |
|
Lucy, my guide, and a portrait of Karen |
|
Karen's house, now a museum. |
ON THE TOUR OF THE WWI BATTLEFIELDS IN TSAVO:
|
Me, on my way to breakfast, looking very happy because... |
|
....this is what I have just seen from the walkway. |
LATER THAT DAY:
|
At a delicious lunch under a baobab tree.. |
|
An ancient problem is investigated through social research. A poll is taken: "Which did you eat first, the chicken or the egg," he is asking. It ended in a tie! |
Annamaria - Monday
Hi Annamaria. What a fabulous trip it looks so far. The elephants are magnificent. Can't wait to hear about it when you get back.
ReplyDeleteZoe, I will be bubbling over with enthusiasm. Warn me well before your eyes start to glaze over.
DeleteWonderful, Annamaria! Research for writing mysteries is so stressful, but someone has to do it!
ReplyDeleteI note that even the blog has moved to historical...I guess once a historical writer, always a historical writer...
Thank you, Michael. I'll do my best to keep going, hard duty though this may be.
DeleteAll I can think of to say is WOW...and "On Dashing, on Dancing, on Baobobing, on Blixen..."
ReplyDeleteTo the top of the hill, to the battlefield wall, now photograph, photograph, photograph all! Xxxxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic trip!! You really know how to do some primary research!! Hop a jet and get to it!! Wow!!
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I am so lucky that this came up and that I am able to do it. I am in seventh heaven!
Delete"The chicken or the egg?" It's all just a shell game anyway... And quit having so much fun. Fun isn't supposed to be for old farts like us, it's supposed to be for young yearlings who say things like, "It's a gas!"
ReplyDeleteOh, never mind. Dance as fast as you can.
EvKa, I was dancing so fast that I wrote 2012 when I meant 2014 and never picked it up in three proofreadings. I keep this up in the hopes that no one will notice that I am too old. SHHHH!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that (and I suspect that's what Michael was alluding to when he said "even your blog has moved to historical"), and if Jeff had made this mistake, you can bet I would have raked him over the coals. But you? I shrivel at the thought of causing you the slightest discomfort.
DeleteThank you for your kind forbearance, EvKa. I did not pick up on Michael's gentle jab because I hadn't yet discovered the mistake. In fact, I learned of it when a not so gentle friend announced it to one and all on Facebook. But now the word is out. I am just another human being, goddess though I may seem. :)
DeleteWhat an amazing adventure. I love those elephants - there are no words for how wonderful all of that must be. Also? I can't wait to go there with you in the next book in your series!
