When Cats Go Bad

It was late on New Year’s Eve in Arapiraca, a little city in northeastern Brazil.
The prisoners at the Luiz de Oliveira Souza prison were tucked snugly into their beds.
And the guards were nodding at their posts.

All except for one, the man assigned to the front gate.
He caught sight of a furtive movement, a criminal trying to sneak in and unite with an accomplice.

And he caught him red…er…pawed.

Here’s his mug shot, taken just after he was arrested:

His name?
He’s not talking.

Taped to his white coat were these items: four hacksaw blades, two concrete drill bits, an earphone, a memory card, a cell phone, three batteries and a charger.

The blades were to cut bars.
The drill bits were to break through a concrete floor, prior to digging a tunnel.
And the cell phone and accessories were to arrange for support from other accomplices.

But justice triumphed.
The prisoners remain in durance vile.

And their furry accomplice has been delivered to animal control.

The dogs of Brazil rejoice.
