A tale of two books

Two books.

One is the autobiography of Nicola Sturgeon which was published this week. Oh My!!
One reviewer ( more about them later) has described her as 'Trumpian' in her ability to maintain  A B and C just didn't happen. So let's talk about XYZ.

I guess all politician  do that.

Meanwhile let's blog about this book.

I've joined audible as my reading time is now somewhat restricted, and this was my first book.
JD Kirk is hysterical and is very good at being insulting. Some of the insults in his books are now part of the normal parlance here. I'm sure he has a committee that  churns them out. The insults are always bandied between people who like each other. It's when Scots ( and Irish ) are very polite, that's when you should be worried.

If they are calling you 'a boyband f..k trumpet' then that's a term of endearment. In this case to a rather pretty young man who is enthusiastic but useless at his job.

In A Death Most Monumental, a body is hanging from a monument, very near the Glenfinnan Viaduct which  has now garnered 95% of its fame from errr... Harry Potter.

So, the cops in the book, put out an appeal for witnesses over the local radio, about the murder. And get back x hundred replies - all complaints about the tourists, the parking, the residents' gardens being used as toilets etc etc.

The way it's written is very funny.
And more funny because it is true.

So what has that got to do with the price of beans?

Well, the viaduct and the North Coast 500 are two of the biggest tourist attractions in a country that relies a lot on tourism.

With very little infrastructure  put in by the government of she who wrote the biography.
And faecal matter in the front garden due to lack of toilets really does upset people.
As you can imagine.

Here are some pics of the North Coast 500 drive.
Or really, the West Coast 250!

And that was just the first 100!

Cheers

C

  1. Based upon my experience driving that road, the "Unsuitable for Caravans" warning is an understatement. By the way, are you aware that Taylor Swift's new album just turned work-release orange into THE color of the moment? You are such a fashion pioneer...
