TFOB and dinner party

I'm going to the Tucson Festival of the Book this weekend - a fantastic event - http://tucsonfestivalofbooks.org/
If you are around hope to see you. I'll be on a panel and interviewing  Mr Legal Thriller himself, Scott Turow and Greg Iles, often compared to Faulkner if he wrote crime novels.  An honor, and I'm a fan of their books yet it's kind of daunting. I keep trying to remember that saying - no matter who it is they still put their pants on one leg at a time. Given that and my dearth of hugely intelligent questions I was thinking of asking them that often asked yet thought provoker
If you were to have a dinner party and could invite two guests - living or dead - who would they be?
Let me answer my own question.
First on the guest list and who would be the life of the party
He'd carry the conversation along with a brainy scientist
I think Marie would hold her own when it came to test tubes.
Who would you invite to dinner?

  1. Oh how I wish I could be there to witness what for certain to be a radiant, wilde interview!

  2. I wish I were there too. I would invite William Shakespeare and Federico Fellini.

  3. I like this question because of the numerous possibilities that could take the conversation in such varied directions. I have three versions of the old Steve Allen show "Meeting of Minds" where actors play historical figures discussing current topics. Imagine having Frederick Douglas and the Marquis de Sade at your dinner table giving their views on torture.
I would invite Mark Twain and Elizabeth I. Each was a trailblazer of sorts and getting a more intimate view of their lives could not fail to be interesting.

  5. David, yes I remember Meeting of the Minds - would Mark Twain let Elizabeth I get a word in, do you think?
