We spent a weekend in Budapest to immerse ourselves in the thermal baths and that feeling of Mittleuropa. Not enough time of course and I want to go back.
But Diana Chambers, who a lot of you know, had told me about the shoes - the searingly sad monument on the Danube bank. She wrote a post for us here on her visit to find her friend's family.
It's a brilliant post. http://murderiseverywhere.blogspot.com/2017/10/bouchercon-redux-diana-chambers.html
Here's what I saw when I went to this monument. Words left me.
