I think it’s time that all parties on all sides of what has
Greece in the forefront of world news step back and take a breath. A deep breath. Everyone’s running so hard in so many shifting
directions that it’s nearly impossible to figure out who’s saying what, when,
or where. So far, that’s yielded up a
feeding frenzy for the planet’s media, and celebrity style coverage for many of
the players, but––short-term maneuverings aside—no apparent progress on
resolving very serious issues with very serious consequences for a lot of
innocents.
So, how about if we forget about all that for today, and
take a look what it is about Greece that makes that land such a special place
in our world…all courtesy of the lens of artist Barbara Zilly.
In the heart of Athens...
Civilization's Heritage...
At Delphi, the navel of the ancient world...
A place for a bit of modern partying...
Places for pensive moments...
A modern day pensive thinker on the streets of Athens at the foot of the Acropolis...
May the week bring good news.

Beauty is truth. Thanks Jeff and Barbara.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Shrew. Our pleasure.
DeleteBeautiful pictures, Barbara -- you have an artist's eye. And so nice to be reminded that there is another side to Greece other than the politics!
ReplyDeleteYes, Zoe, Barbara the artist sure has an eye for beauty in all her choices.
DeleteThanks Jeff and Barbara. Yes we need to step back sometimes and ask how important these things will be in 1000 years.
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know when we get there, Michael.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and a great reminder of what has drawn us back time and time again to Greece.
ReplyDeleteYes, and it's during times like this that we all could use a reminder, J&J. :)
DeleteWell, I can't speak to ALL of Barbara's choices (this is my one day out of the year when I swear off all snarkiness...), but her photography is certainly wonderful! Layer after layer, ten thousand layers deep, and deeper still grow our roots.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know, Jeff, "it's getting deep in here..."
Well, speaking as one of Barbara's choices to all of you, EvKa, I can't wait to see how creative she can be with the subjects she finds in Portland.:)
DeleteThese are worthy of a book. Really wonderful. I feel like I just took a trip.
ReplyDeleteBarbara thanks you, Lil, as do I.
DeleteThanks Jeff for letting me re-live our trips to Greece. Hopefully, you will be part of the next trip!
ReplyDeleteI'll be there waiting for you, Mark!
DeleteTruly gorgeous! I will get there some day...
