You said, "...the thousand-mile sentence that comprises a novel."<br /><br />Now, in the hardcover of Queen, there are about 304 pages, and a full page is 38 lines, but let's call it 300 pages and 35 lines per page, to account for the partial pages at the beginning and end of chapters, and the empty space at the beginning and end of paragraphs (we are, after all, just ballparking here). Each line on the page is (approximately) 4.3 inches long. So that's 300x35x4.3 = 45,150 inches = 3,762.5 feet = 0.71 miles, less than THREE-QUARTERS OF A MILE!<br /><br />I suspect you're spinning a yarn here, or else you've been writing short stories all these years, not real novels.Everett Kaserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12371555243187874414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990338437877873686.post-30701649047778567842011-12-04T12:38:29.680-05:002011-12-04T12:38:29.680-05:00I liken my process to a bad chef - throw enough pa...I liken my process to a bad chef - throw enough pasta at the wall - when it sticks it's cookedCara Blackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14592098418515886674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990338437877873686.post-32844678351674788722011-12-04T12:34:46.501-05:002011-12-04T12:34:46.501-05:00Once again you've given me an inspirational qu...Once again you've given me an inspirational quote to post alongside one that guided me as a lawyer, "No mistake is as bad as failing to make a decision."Jeffrey Sigerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00718317707555064653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990338437877873686.post-76587073676333523742011-12-04T10:36:46.186-05:002011-12-04T10:36:46.186-05:00I have the same sort of experiences Tim.
