What the Crime Writer Saw

Annamaria on Monday

Here is what New York City looked like this past week.  I didn't go any place special to see these sights.  They are just what I passed by while going about my business--going to the grocery store, walking to the subway or to a restaurant to meet friends.  Every once in a while, I just had to pull out my phone and snap a shot.  Listen to this while you are looking at the photos:

  1. Spring seems to have come early, wiped its feet and stayed a while. I can't remember the daffodils lasting so long.

    1. It's been glorious here, Zoe. I wrote a line near the end of Invisible Country that comes to mind, given the glorious beauty of the spring and the perilous times the world has been going through: "Flowering trees of spring were everywhere around her: pink, magenta, yellow, purple. Her country, not seeming to notice how its people suffered, bloomed with riots of flowers, just as Paraguay was going down to defeat. Or, perhaps the trees saw the sadness around them and displayed their beauty to comfort their countrymen." If the trees and the flowers are trying to help, they are doing a great job!

  2. I'll have to remember to say, "Just taking pics of flowers" the next time someone catches me at her window with a camera.f

    1. Ah, I thought that guy looked familiar. The one talking around the neighborhood in a pulled down fedora, trench coat, and sunglasses was you! Next time, I'll be sure to shout, "Hello, Jeffrey Siger," when I see him.

  3. The crime writer has a great eye. I love spring anyway; it softens everything, and the flowers are wonderful. Thank you.

    1. My pleasure, Lil. It's my allergy season. BUT, it is still my favorite time of year. After all of winter's gloom, comes all this light and color. Such beauty. What a balm to the soul!

    1. Early spring is always chancy in these climes, EvKa. But this late April has been glorious. The only problem for me is that when everything comes alive at the same time, not even three kinds of allergy medication can quash all the sneezing and itching. BUT as I said above, I love the trees and flowers, even when they hurt my feelings.

  7. I share your pain with allergies all the time to the extreme at some points.
But that doesn't take away the beauty of a Big Apple spring.
It perks us all up and re-energizes us. Spring is about life so bring it on and I'll live on Allegra, etc.
